Sometimes we see things differently than they are. Reality can be easily distorted with us not perceiving it! This is a glass of white wine although it seems red because of the background wall and the light reflection.

One of my favorite photos. I like the yellow - orange color that covers the whole picture, emitting from the city lights and reflecting on the road. This is a typical scene on the center of Athens at night.

A flower somewhere in a distant surrealistic realm...

Not all stories are true. There are some (many actually!) that are creations of vivid imagination and there are others that are true to some extent but exaggerated as well. The same rule exists in photography too; there are photos that depict the mere reality and others that are somehow edited to communicate a particular message, depict a dramatic outlook or simply entertain our eyes and delight our senses. It’s not bad though to artistically alter a photo in a way that is not the exact data recorded by the camera’s sensor. Photography is an art and thus can have surreal extensions just like painting. Photographers may want to focus on a particular subject, emphasize in what is considered trivial or make an ordinary object stand out from the noisy surroundings. These photos, although not exact depictions of reality – universal truths, are factual and accurate enough in the way they exist in the photographer’s mind and point of view…

Just like urban legends, this flower does exist in reality. It’s emphasized though, like the exaggerated stories of those heroes that are spread virally till they become legends. The colorless background is an unshaped blurry mass of data, trivial electronic “0” and “1” signals that exist unnoticed and ignored. I don’t really know the type of this flower and its name but it doesn’t matter; legends come from all walks of life, kings & slaves.
